Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team to coordinate, manage, and maintain our financial records in our office in Mclean, Virginia. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations as a 501(c)(3). The candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: Support in overseeing all financial records and accounts on Quickbooks, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
  • Payroll: Coordinate the processing of payroll and maintain payroll records, ensuring timely payments to employees, partners, consultants, and all other relevant parties.
  • Financial Reporting: Support in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and budget reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Budgeting: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget, providing regular financial reports, budget reports, and analysis to the Executive Team.
  • Grant Management: Assist in tracking grants budget, ensuring funds are utilized according to grant agreements and reporting requirements are met.
  • Tax Management: Support in the preparation and file all necessary tax documents, including IRS forms such as 990, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Audit Preparation: Assist with the preparation and coordination of annual audits, ensuring compliance with audit and financial legal requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the finance manager in our field office in order to ensure financial coordination and compliance in all programs financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ bookkeeping/accounting experience in the United States.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, including entering transactions, making journal entries, preparing financial statements, reconciling transactions, troubleshooting issues, etc.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
