The Belgian Red Cross is advocating for a better respect of international humanitarian law’. This mission is carried out by the Service Education for Global Citizenship and International Humanitarian Law (ECM-DIH), in conjunction with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. This advocacy aims to encourage policy-makers and’opinion leaders to act continuously in the interest of vulnerable people, in full respect of fundamental humanitarian principles. It is declined in particular through the following axes :
- le bilateral and confidential dialogue with the Belgian authorities in order to strengthen the respect of IHL by Belgium at national and international level ;
- le capacity building of professional (future·) (military, magistrate·, lawyer· journalists, diplomats, student·, ..) to apply IHL in the exercise of their (future) profession, mainly by training and events of scale’ ;
- le strengthening the citizen awareness of the population in Belgium, mainly young people, on the theme of respect for human dignity in times of war, through animations, calls for mobilization and awareness-raising activities.
Function :
Sous la supervision du Conseiller juridique en Droit international humanitaire et Relations avec le Mouvement, en relation étroite avec les autres membres de l’équipe ECM-DIH, votre fonction en tant qu’assistant·e pour la diffusion du droit international humanitaire consiste à :
- Concevoir et donner des formations au DIH vers les (futur·es) professionnel·les ;
- Rédiger des articles et des éclairages relatifs au DIH ;
- Organiser des évènements d’ampleur diverse consacrés au DIH ;
- Apporter un appui juridique en DIH aux équipes du Département international ;
- Contribuer à la rédaction de notes de réflexion sur des thématiques de DIH dans le cadre des activités de plaidoyer de la Société nationale ;
- Effectuer des démarches de sensibilisation au DIH auprès de nouveaux publics ;
- Assurer le suivi des indicateurs d’activités et contribuer aux processus d’évaluation.
Profil :
- Vous adhérez et partagez les 7 principes fondamentaux du Mouvement international de la Croix-Rouge et du Croissant-Rouge ;
- Vous êtes titulaire d’un diplôme en droit et d’un master complémentaire en droit international ;
- Vous justifiez de deux années d’expérience en milieu professionnel (stages, travail salarié, volontariat) ;
- Vous démontrez un intérêt marqué pour le droit international humanitaire ;
- You have a perfect command of French, you show’aisance in the writing and synthesis and you have moreover a good level of’anglaise, both at’oral and’a. The practice of Dutch is an asset ;
- You have a facility for public speaking ;
- You have a good command of basic computer tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) ;
- You demonstrate good capacities of’autonomy and taking of’ initiative, versatility,’ spirit of’ team, relational’aisance, capacities of’adaptation and resistance to stress.
