ALIMA PRESENTATION

L’ESPRIT ALIMA : ’alima’s reason for being is to save lives and care for the most vulnerable populations, without any identity, religious or political discrimination, through actions based on closeness, and, L’innovation et l’ alliance of’organisations and’individuals. CARE – INNOVATE – TOGETHER :Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 10 million patients, and today deploys its operations in 12 countries of’Africa. In 2022, we developed more than 60 humanitarian medical response projects to meet the needs of populations affected by conflict, epidemics and extreme poverty. All these projects are in support of national health authorities through nearly 511 health facilities (including 47 hospitals and 464 health centres). We work in partnership, including with local NGOs, as soon as possible to improve access and transfer of skills that ensures the sustainability of our actions to our patients. In addition, to improve the humanitarian response, we conduct operational and clinical research projects, including,in particular to combat malnutrition and viral hemorrhagic fevers.

THE ALIMA TEAM :More than 2,000 people currently work for ALIMA. The field teams, as close as possible to the patients, receive their support from the coordination teams generally based in the capital of the countries of intervention’. These receive the support of the 4 desk teams and the’ team of the emergency department and openings based at the operational headquarters of Dakar, Senegal. The teams of Paris and New York are actively working on fundraising and’ at the representation of’ALIMA. The rest of the ALIMA Galaxy includes individuals and partner teams working on behalf of’ other organizations such as BEFEN Medical NGOs, Health ALERT, SOS Doctors, KEOOGO, AMCP-SP, and others, DEMTOU-Humanitaire, the research organizations PAC-CI, Inserm, the Universities of Bordeaux or Copenhagen and many others.

CONTEXT

The vast majority of’ALIMA programmes are financed by donors: institutional donors, United Nations agencies, cooperations, private foundations, etc, CDCS,’AFD and others. ALIMA also carries out projects in consortium with international NGOs and’ other partners or research institutes. Many of our donors and partners have representatives on the ground, so the relationship with them is built directly from the’ALIMA country offices. The financing of projects, and therefore the search for funds, is the responsibility of the mission, with the support of the Dakar operations teams and support teams. A Head of Relations Bailleurs is present in each country. At headquarters,a dedicated service supports the operational teams for the relationship with donors, in particular for the monitoring of calls for proposals, contractual follow-up, etc, and official communication with the various donors. This service is part of the Operations Department and is composed of’une Responsable du Service Relations Bailleurs, a Referente Bailleurs Recherche, a.e Grants Officer, and’un.e Referent.e Bailleurs by geographical desk. PROTECTION OF BENEFICIARIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Level 1 : The incumbent of the post will not have contact with children and/or vulnerable adults or access to their personal data in the course of his or her work ; as a result, criminal record checks will not be mandatory for this position unless the content of the position changes, in this case, the level of protection of vulnerable populations will have to be reviewed.

FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINKS

Hierarchically attached to the Head of the Service Relations Bailleurs, you will provide support to the’ as a whole of the headquarters donor team.

MAIN MISSION AND ACTIVITIES

1. Contribute to the good contractual management and the respect of the procedures of the donors :

  • Support compliance with donor contractual procedures and submit documents (proposals, reports) in the specific formats required by donors, as well as on online platforms.
  • Ensure regular updating of contract management tools, verify the completeness of information and send reminders so that deadlines are met.
  • Monitoring the completeness of the’archiving of contractual documents.
  • Support due diligence procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to the financial department in case of’audit and at the annual closing.

2. Contribute to the search for funding :

  • Ensure constant monitoring of calls for projects and support the search for new funding opportunities.
  • Develop summaries of calls for projects and contribute to the collection and centralization of information on new funding opportunities, calls for proposals and donor guidelines.
  • Plan, organize and follow-up of’arbitration meetings for calls for projects, as well as the drafting and dissemination of the reports of these meetings.

3. Support the different members of the team in reporting and donor relations :

  • Provide support for the review of reports and project proposals.
  • Assist donor desk referents in the development of concept notes and project proposals, responding adequately to donor requests.
  • Develop briefing notes and presentations to support the preparation of the meetings with the funders.

EXPERIENCES AND COMPETENCES

Formation

Coming from a university education in political science, international relations or equivalent, you have a first experience in a humanitarian context. You have a good knowledge of the project cycle, the logical framework and the main donors (EU, UN, etc.). You have excellent’ writing abilities, good’analysis and synthesis abilities. You have teamwork and relational ease. You are able to work urgently, independently and have a good command of the Word, EXCEL, Powerpoint computer tools.

Languages

Excellent written and oral expression in french and english

CONDITIONS

Contract duration : Fixed term contract under Senegalese law of 12 months

Taking post : 15 September 2024

Salary : Level 4 of the internal grid of’ALIMA
