WHAT WE DO …

SOLIDARITY INTERNATIONAL (SI)is an association of’ international humanitarian aid which, for more than 40 years, has been helping people who are victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to the vital needs, drinking, eating, sheltering. Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases related to unhealthy’, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions an expertise in the field of’access to drinking’water,’sanitation and the promotion of hygiene but also in that, essential, food security and means of’. Present in more than 20 countries, the SI teams, 2500 people in total, composed of’expatriates, national staffs, permanent staff at headquarters, some volunteers…intervene with professionalism and commitment in respect of cultures.

THE MISSION

Since March 2020, SI has been working in France to respond to the COVID 19 health crisis in four territories. Our projects are aimed at the public living in degraded’habitats sites such as slums, camps or squats and having in particular limited access to basic services, in terms of’ potable water,’ sanitation, etc, and’access to the products of’ hygiene of first necessity. In times of health crisis, « non-connected » people are more vulnerable and have, more than ever, need of’ access to these services Water Hygiene and Sanitation to be able to apply barrier gestures and improve their living conditions.

Opening of’a mission in Mayotte : SI has been questioned by local associative actors, concerning the crisis of drinking’water which is facing a high share of the population living in the department of Mayotte.

The significant difficulties of’access to’eau,’ hygiene and’ sanitation of these people, and therefore the health risks to which they are exposed, led SI to establish a base in Mayotte at the end of 2022 to support local actors through 4 axes :

  • Coordination of local actors
  • L’restimation of epidemic risk
  • L’technical support for the development of local projects for’access to’eau and’
  • Advocacy and capacity building of local actors

JOB DESCRIPTION

The/The Field Coordinator has a role of Global Coordinator on an area in which International Solidarity intervenes. He/she proposes the regional strategy according to the geopolitical and humanitarian context and ensures its implementation once validated. He/she is the’direct and privileged interlocutor of the Country Director and local partners.

General objective :

Le.la CT must propose and develop an operational strategy in coherence with the policies of the’association and the needs of the populations. The specificity of the North zone is the mulipicity of interlocutors and contexts of internvention.

As coordinator of the area, he accompanies teams in the sizing and implementation of activities whose quality he must ensure. It is also responsible for the proper use of allocated budgets and compliance with procedures. It is in contact with associative and institutional partners.

Main Challenges :

3 very diverse intervention areas : Nord Littoral where SI acts as technical support, the MEL where activities are very limited and the IDF with different contexts in each department. In these territories we must find a coherence of intervention which can be manifested by an adaptation of the activities and the partnership relations. Area that includes reluctant territories that requires developing new forms of intervention.

Priorities for the first 2/3 months :

  • Taking of post and handover/meeting of interlocutors
  • Develop the implementation strategy of the standards of access to water in IDF in connection with town halls, EPCIs and elected officials and maintain regular activities on the areas
  • Maintain and develop institutional partnerships

Languages :

  • French
  • English is a plus for partnership relations in the coastal North

IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

An employee position : According to experience, from EUR 2860 gross per month (2600 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly).
