Freelance Trainers At Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development


Background and rationale of the consultancy

Founded in 2008 in Amman-Jordan, Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) is a Civil Society Organization seeking to reinitiate a new Nahda (Arab Renaissance) project to contribute to addressing the challenges faced by the Arab World, building on the achievements and ideas of the Arab Nahda and aiming to open the doors for future participation in formulating concrete actions to achieve the desired change and development. ARDD supports marginalized individuals and communities—including refugees and migrants— in acquiring and enjoying their social, political, and economic rights, through legal aid, psychosocial support, media and grassroots mobilization, and research and advocacy to raise stakeholders’ awareness locally, regionally, and internationally about the challenges that vulnerable persons face in Jordan and the Arab Region.

Promoting the Voice and Leadership of Women Tawazon- توازن, is a USAID-funded project; it is a 5-year initiative implemented by a consortium led by Mercy Corps, which includes the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), Al Jidara, Solidarity is Global Institute (SIGI), and Plan International (Plan). The primary objective of Tawazon is to foster transformative change by enhancing the voice and influence of women; this involves strengthening legislative frameworks, enforcing relevant legislation, enhancing the institutional capacity of stakeholders, promoting inclusive social norms, and help removing barriers to women’s participation and leadership.

ARDD’s role as the lead partner on Objective 3.1 is responsible for the design and delivery of the leadership capacity building program under the name of “Arab Women Leadership Academy” (AWLA). Within three years (2024, 2025, 2026) AWLA will target 500 women from all over Jordan, from different backgrounds, expertise, and different age groups. This Leadership program consists of three phases: the training phase (17 training days), the coaching phase (4 group coaching sessions) and the networking phase.

  1. Consultancy’s Objective

ARDD is seeking to hire freelance trainers under AWLA program, to directly deliver AWLA training materials/topics in leadership and management and engage with trainees towards enhancing their leadership competencies. The trainers will work on cultivating a competent and knowledgeable training environment and effectively contribute to AWLA’s goals.

  1. Deliverables
  • The trainer will be responsible for delivering and guiding participants through a structured learning experience, imparting knowledge, and honing skills based on AWLA curriculum and design. The trainer will deliver the training topics that are within their specialty and expertise.
  • The trainer will provide reports on the outcomes and impact of the training programs to AWLA’s management.
  • The trainer must attend a Training of Trainer (ToT), that introduces the AWLA curriculum and training manuals, which will be delivered to AWLA’s participants.
  1. Specific requirements
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must be skilled at engaging with individuals and groups to facilitate learning effectively.
  • Problem-solving: Has to tackle challenges efficiently and innovate solutions.
  • Time Management: Has Effective utilization of time ensured that modules goals are met within the timeline.
  • Presentation and Communication Skills; Need to have public speaking, communication and presentation skills, the trainer should be comfortable speaking in front of groups, organize and present information clearly is essential; mastery of verbal and written communication ensures you can express complex information understandably.
  • Personal qualities: Empathy and kindness, patience, positive attitude to build trust, manage diverse learning steps and styles, and encourage engaging training atmosphere.
  1. Ethics and Risks
  • The trainer must agree to and adhere to ARDD’s ethical guidelines and Code of Conduct by signing them.
  • The trainer must ensure consistent quality, professionalism and terminology based on throughout the training delivery throughout AWLA groups/cohorts.
  • The trainer should be committed to deliver AWLA training topics based on AWLA training kit (trainer guide, trainees guide, pre & post & presentation).

  1. Qualifications/Experience

The trainer’s profile shall include, but not be limited to:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in delivering training in leadership, management, or women empowerment.
  • The trainer must possess certifications or qualifications pertinent to leadership or management.
  • Experience in working within capacity building projects in leadership or management with different NGO’s.
  • Flexibility to work in various governorates in Jordan, spanning from south to north.
  • Excellent in building team cultures and keeping participants engaged and motivated.
  • Strong mediation and conflict resolution skills to address dilemmas and resolve conflicts within the training sessions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey AWLA training delivery.
  • Experience in working with women of various age groups, diverse background, and across different sectors, is a plus.
