Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant At Finn Church Aid


Introduction

Finn Church Aid (FCA) is the largest Finnish organization for development cooperation and the second largest provider of humanitarian assistance. FCA operates in twelve countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and has over 70 years of experience from international aid. FCA specializes in supporting local communities in three priority areas: Right to Livelihood, Right to Quality Education and Right to Peace. FCA operations include long-term development cooperation, humanitarian assistance and advocacy. FCA has been working in Jordan since 2012 with focus on mitigating the impact of the regional refugee crisis especially among youth and young adults. Over the years, the priorities of the country program have gradually shifted from Education in Emergencies to long-term resilience and reduced aid dependency of both refugees and vulnerable host communities. These goals are promoted especially through various interventions aimed at improving livelihoods.

Primary purpose of the position: Their primary role is to assist in the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to projects activities and outcomes as directed by the Program MEAL Officer.

Main tasks

Internal Coordination:

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure seamless coordination and information flow.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Program MEAL Officer, providing updates on project activities, challenges, and progress.

Outreach Preparations Support:

  • Assist in the preparation and conducting of outreach processes to establish networks within the local community.
  • Support informational sessions at targeted locations to enhance acceptance and effective outreach.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Support projects planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting (PMER) procedures from a MEAL perspective.
  • Contribute to the development of selection criteria and documentation processes for beneficiary selection.
  • Conduct field visits to verify proper use of monitoring tools and data accuracy.
  • Assist in data analysis and report findings to the Program MEAL Officer.

Tools Design:

  • Support the design and development of data collection tools, ensuring alignment with program objectives and stakeholder needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather input and enhance tool usability and effectiveness.
  • Accountability:
  • Implement mechanisms to gather feedback from beneficiaries and stakeholders to inform project decision-making.
  • Ensure sharing the accountability channels with the project’s partners and beneficiaries.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Utilize statistical methods and data visualization tools to analyze project data and generate insights for decision-making.
  • Maintain a comprehensive data management system ensuring data security and accessibility.
  • Prepare data visualization for reports and presentations reflecting key activities.
  • Contribute to projects reporting by consolidating progress data toward projects indicators.
  • Learning and Knowledge Sharing:
  • Gather and disseminate lessons learned from program activities.
  • Promote knowledge sharing across the organization and with stakeholders.
  • Networking and Communication:
  • Contribute to visibility activities and represent the organization positively during field activities.
  • Ensure effective communication of organizational goals and values.

Support tasks related to the projects implementation and other activities as assigned by the Program MEAL Officer.

Competence, experience, skills, knowledge needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as statistics, social sciences, economics, or development studies.
  • Prior experience in monitoring and evaluation and data management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation concepts, methodologies, and tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to work under high pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage efficiently multiple priorities, deadlines and tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with attention to details.
