Founded in 1980, Solidarity International is a Non-Governmental Organization that provides relief to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting the vital needs, drinking, eating, sheltering. It always intervenes at the request of the populations concerned or their representatives, in cooperation with its local partners and with the fierce will of’a constant respect for the humanitarian principles that are’humanity,’independence, etc, L’impartiality and neutrality.

Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases related to unhealthy’, the leading cause of death in the world, Solidarity International implements through its interventions an expertise in the field of’access to drinking’water,’ sanitation and the promotion of hygiene but also in those, essential, of food security and means of’ existence, and of’access to a dignified housing.

L’ONG has two main levels of’organisation: the Seat and the Field.

  • The seat includes all departments : Operations and operations management assistant to programs, Logistics, Human Resources, Administration & Finance, Communication & Development, Accountability and Development of Partnerships, Ethics & Services & Internal Audit.
  • The ground includes the 26 intervention countries around the world / operations deployment sites.

The consultancy mission will work in particular with two entities at headquarters :

  • The Ethics & Internal Audit service, attached to the general management, which will coordinate the exercise. The service includes teams dedicated to the conduct of internal audit and documentation management, and teams dedicated to the ethical framework and the fight against abusive behavior.
  • The Operations Department Assistant to Programs ( DOAP ) composed of teams dedicated to programmatic technical expertise, and in particular the MEAL & Quality team. The latter has expertise dedicated to Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning ( SERA ) as well as teams dedicated to cross-sectional protection.

The internal working group set up for the conduct of the CHS self-assessment will also include focal points from the various departments.

OBJECTIVE OF CONSULTANCE

Solidarity International is committed to meeting the needs of people affected by a crisis with the highest quality standards. In a continuous improvement approach, SI wishes to initiate an exercise of’self-assessment around the Fundamental Humanitarian Standard of Quality and Accountability (CHS) in order to reflect, learn from and identify areas of progress on the implementation of quality and accountability standards in its actions. This exercise will notably allow the organization to prioritize the’improvement axes identified in its strategic exercise.

Solidarity International is also committed to a’ accession process in order to become a member of the CHS Alliance in 2024.

The mission of consultancy is to accompany the teams of Solidarity International to conduct this exercise in accordance with the guidelines provided by the CHS; in a coordinated manner by mobilizing adequate resources at the appropriate time, while ensuring the necessary arrangements to draw concrete lessons from the’ exercise.

SCHEDULE OF THE CONSULTATION

The contract will take effect from its date of notification, for a envisaged duration of six (6) months – adjustable according to the proposal of the candidate.

Phases of the’exercise

Durations

Preparation: 6 weeks (march – mid-April)

Collection of’information: 12 weeks (may – july)

Analysis and preparation of the report: 6 weeks (august – mid-September)

Closing of the consultation: 1 week (end of September)

The candidate is not expected to work full time during the’exercise but to intervene at key stages.
