Chemonics is looking for multiple technical advisors of the Regional Resilience Activity in the Sahel (SRR) funded by USAID in Burkina Faso, Chad, Gambia and Mauritania. The RRS aims to improve the ability of individuals, households and communities in the Sahel to mitigate, adapt and recover from ongoing shocks and stresses. USAID plans to award several awards as part of a single mechanism focusing on local partnership and potential transition grants to local partners.
We are looking for a range of technical advisors, based in Burkina Faso, in areas related to resilience programs, for consideration :
- Food security
- Agricultural production
- Development of market systems
- WASH
- Gender and integration of young people
- Nutrition
- Strategies for changing social behaviour
Qualifications:
- University degree in environmental sciences, agricultural production, economics, health/nutrition, or any other field related to the RRS technical specialization areas listed above ; Graduate degree preferably
- At least seven years of professional experience, at increasingly high levels of responsibility, in management, implementation and/or/or advice on resilience programmes in one of the following areas: food security, agricultural production, development of market systems, water, sanitation and hygiene, integration of women and young people, nutrition and social behaviour change strategies, including at least four years working in Sahelian countries in public or private contexts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, including the U. S. Government, relevant government departments and NGO representatives
- Previous experience on USAID-funded activities, including the design or implementation of resilience-building activities in Sahelian countries, is highly desired
- Demonstrated a positive working relationship with USAID, including knowledge of USAID rules and regulations, compliance and reporting requirements
- Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of public and private sector counterparts, donors and other key stakeholders
- Excellent ability to articulate oral and written technical information clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
- Computer skills demonstrated in applications in the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Experience working in conflict environments with an ability to adapt to the needs of a changing security situation
- Demonstrate ethical leadership, versatility and integrity
- Professional mastery of French required, English proficiency is highly desired. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
