WHAT WE DO …

INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY(SI) is an association of’international humanitarian aid which, for more than 40 years, has been providing relief to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to vital needs, drinking, eating, eating, eating, S’abriter. Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases related to unhealthy’, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions an expertise in the field of’access to drinking’water,’sanitation and the promotion of hygiene but also in that, essential, food security and means of’. Present in about twenty countries, SI – 2000 teams in total composed of’expatriates, national staffs, permanent staff at headquarters, some volunteers…intervene with professionalism and commitment in respect of cultures.

Since March 2020, SI operates in France in five territories. Our projects are aimed at the public living in precarious habitats such as slums or squats and having in particular limited access to basic services, in terms of DRINKING WATER’, sanitation, etc, and’access to the products of’hygiene of first necessity.

If the rights to’eau and’ainseissement are recognized by the’ONU since 2010,’access to these basic services is not considered to date as a fundamental right in France. Through advocacy activities, SI aims to achieve the recognition and effective application of’a right to drinking’au in France.

In the’optic strategy of SI consists of both :

( i ) to support local actors in their search for concrete solutions, by proposing to improve the sanitary conditions of the sites, in particular via the installation of drinking water services, sanitation infrastructure, distributions of hygiene products and work on risk reduction ;

( ii ) to provide a plea ( A ) for the transformation of the legal framework for the right to water in France and ( B ) the implementation of an effective public policy, universal and sustainable for access to water for all in France.

POST DESCRIPTION

List of main responsibilities :

Support the Jurist, in charge of Advocacy in the development of advocacy actions for access to rights related to water and sanitation and in particular :

  • Undertake and support inter-associative approaches to the development of local advocacy actions in favor of access to the right to water and sanitation ( mainly on the North Littoral and Overseas ) ;
  • Accompany the NGO if necessary to bring out the challenges of water and sanitation rights in France internally and externally.

Details of tasks :

VEILLE, RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS

  • Ensure monitoring and set up a calendar of advocacy and questioning opportunities for the effectiveness of the right to water and sanitation in France ;
  • Identify advocacy targets at national and European level as part of the review of the European directive on sanitation ;
  • Provide a political context analysis and a media and legal watch on the rights to’eau and’sanitation on degraded areas (North coast and Overseas)

ADVOCACY

Participate in the mobilization of national and international human rights protection mechanisms

  • Drafting of plea documents, couriers d’interpellation, publications ;
  • Mobilization of’a network of associative partners to promote the raising of’information on degraded areas (North coast, Overseas)
  • Take part in inter-associative meetings with IS partners and ensure the reporting of the reports

DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS – OBSERVATORIES

  • North coast
    • In partnership with the local associations, supervise the collection of quantitative and qualitative data on the’access to the’EHA (updating the database on the North Coast Observatory) for advocacy purposes
    • Creation of’data collection tools and training of local partner associations
    • Coordination of the collection of testimonies of people « unconnected » in coordination with local associations
    • Elaboration of the’ observatory 2024 of the’access to the’EHA on the north coast
    • Organize and ensure the’archiving of parts
  • Overseas – Mayotte
    • Support and follow-up of the collection of qualitative data (testimonials) by local IS teams as well as other parts (photo, quantitative data..).
    • Assistance to the’Analyses of quantitative and qualitative data on the’access to the’EHA in Mayotte
    • Support to the’ elaboration of’an observatory of the’access to the’EHA on Mayotte
  • National
    • In general, analysis of secondary data (publication and reports)
    • Supervision of teams in charge of observatories « degraded areas » and the’ national observatory
    • Harmonization of deliverables,’analysis grids and’archiving methods of parts (evidence)

GENERAL

  • Participate in weekly and monthly meetings of the office and the various services worked ;
  • Provide support to the’ all areas according to requests.

YOUR PROFILE

  • BAC level +4 minimum, having a higher education in political science, social science, public policy or law
  • With a strong interest and knowledge for the problems of precariousness and poor housing in France
  • Good editorial skills,’analysis and writing
  • A desire to work as a team
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (good knowledge of’Excel) ;
  • Desired experience in data collection and’analysis
  • Good synthesis and relational skills
  • Proactivity and critical thinking
  • Organization & anticipation
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Commitment to the principles and work of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL.

Objectives of the internship for the’student:

  • Understand the relationships between the different stakeholders involved in the implementation of’access to’au and’sanitation as well as the defense of this fundamental right in France ;
  • Put into practice a humanitarian advocacy (here on the right to’au) in connection with the projects of’une NGO.

IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

  • Internship based within the headquarters of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in Clichy ( 92 ), metro town hall of Clichy
  • Intern with compulsory internship agreement.
  • Gratification: 4.90 euros / hour
  • The gratification is calculated in proportion to the actual hours of presence over the month. ( On average 1 month = 154h, i.e. 22 days of 7h / day )
  • Public transport supported at 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
  • Tickets restaurant at 8.90 € / effective day of internship, with the participation of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL at 60%
