To support its Bunia Office, WFP is looking for a(e) assistant(e) of the technical unit Research, Analysis and Monitoring/Research, Assessment and Monitoring (RAM) to provide support in the programming and implementation of its activities.

BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION OF THE POSITION:

These positions are to be filled in regional offices, country offices or section/field offices. Holders are usually under the responsibility of one or more Program Policy Officers or their alternates(e).

At this level, the incumbents of the jobs concerned shall be responsible for the proper implementation of various specialised or standardised procedures and activities requiring them to interpret standard guidelines and practices to a certain extent at their disposal. Everyone should be able to recommend’action lines to their colleagues at various levels and can assign tasks to’ other support staff. They work under minimal supervision, perform simple analyses and compile reports to ensure consistency of information and the proper execution of programmes and projects.

The/the incumbent of the position will work under the supervision of the head of the RAM’unit of the Bunia office in order to facilitate the monitoring of activities by providing good management of data required for the plug decisions, including targeting of beneficiaries.

MAIN FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (indicative and non-exhaustive list) :

  1. Provide technical support to all issues related to recipient targeting, including, including monitoring of partnership agreements with targeting partners in accordance with WFP standards and guidelines; and ;
  2. Implement procedures for targeting and AMR activities to ensure that they are consistent with broader program policies and directives; and ;
  3. For the’unit of RAM, consolidate data and assist in analysis and reporting for food safety assessments to support operational decision making ;
  4. Support the implementation of the annual FOOD safety emergency assessment (EFSA)’, including collaboration with partners for administrative and technical procedures ;
  5. Support the implementation of mobile Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (mVAM) monthly data collection (the collection of data through telephone interviews) for context monitoring food safety ;
  6. Collaborate and exchange information with colleagues in other units to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing AMR activities ;
  7. Facilitate communication and RAM activities with local partners, non-governmental organizations and public institutions ;
  8. Support, where appropriate, activities to monitor the implementation of and measure the results of the programme.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Training:

  • University degree in Statistics, Management Computing, Sociology, social development, development economics or performance management or other relevant fields.

Desired experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years of’ professional experience in activities related to food safety analyses including’ data analysis to support programmatic decision-making ;
  • Minimum three (3) years of’ experience in developing and implementing strategies for targeting beneficiaries;
  • Experience in humanitarian programs.

Knowledge & skills:

  • Familiarity with’ statistical analysis tools and understanding of targeting concepts and technical data and their relevance to food assistance programmes.
