The Treasury and Finance department is now seeking a new Head of the Asset & Liability Management unit reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Head of Treasury and Finance. The position is based at the Bank’s headquarters in Helsinki, Finland.

Director, Head of Asset & Liability Management

The Head of Asset & Liability Management (ALM) will be a member of the Treasury and Finance Leadership team. As Head of Asset & Liability Management, you will be responsible for managing NIB’s market risks on the balance sheet through use of cash and derivative financial instruments. You will also be responsible for NIB liquidity readiness on a daily basis. ALM also supports the Lending activities with transfer pricing, hedging, managing pre-payments and with updates on the latest developments in credit markets.

In addition, the role requires you to support the development of the ALM team, its ways of working, drive innovation and focus on ESG and sustainability. You will collaborate closely with other parts of the Treasury and Finance Department and other areas of the Bank as well as network with other International Financial Institutions within the field of Asset Liability Management.

The ideal candidate will have:

  •  Strong product knowledge of financial instruments as well as good understanding of liquidity and balance sheet management in banks from several year’s experience working with ALM
  •  Very solid understanding of market and liquidity risks and managing a liquidity buffer of assets
  •  A leadership profile, likely with background from the financial sector, possessing skills that can develop and engage other people
  •  A creative and innovative mindset
  •  Result focus on outperforming benchmarks
  •  Experience in dealing with financial counterparts
  •  Natural interest for macroeconomic and geopolitical developments
  •  Analytical mindset and capable of developing new tools together with the team
  •  A purpose-driven approach with good understanding of sustainability matters
  •  Collaborative skills to be able to activate people to cooperate between teams
  •  A proactive and open mindset towards change and in the interaction with other teams
  •  A Master’s degree in finance, economics or similar
  •  Knowledge of Bloomberg and Reuters systems – and familiarity with in-house trading and risk management system Summit is an advantage
  •  Knowledge of programming languages like Python
