Salary Range: $130,000 – $170,000 depending on experience

Role and Responsibilities

ideas42 is looking for a seasoned People Operations professional with a track record of success to lead ideas42’s People Operations function. This position is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of this global organization’s goal of hiring, developing, and retaining a diverse team of extremely talented individuals. This includes helping to create an inclusive environment where team members feel they belong and can do their best work. As a seasoned professional with a broad skill set, pragmatic approach, and high EQ, the right candidate will bring experience and fresh perspective to the People Ops function and lead by emple.

The Director of People Operations will report to the Director of Operations, and work closely with ideas42’s Managing Directors, who oversee our various strategic focus areas (Safety and Justice, Postsecondary Education, Economic Justice, etc.), and manages the Senior Associate of People Operations and teams across the organization that drive specific functional needs of People Operations (e.g., learning and development). This unique opportunity will drive innovation in global talent acquisition, professional development, DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging), and talent management practices. The successful candidate will bring an entrepreneurial spirit, behavioral lens, and mission alignment to this work. Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Recruiting:

  •  Lead recruiting efforts including managing employer brand, job posts, interviewing processes, and candidate selection
  •  Improve the efficiency of behaviorally informed recruiting efforts to effectively attract and screen diverse, high potential candidates

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging:

  •  Make sure we are reaching out to diverse talent pools and building an organization that helps everyone to succeed
  •  Consistently promote behaviorally informed strategies that foster an environment of belonging
  •  Serve on ideas42’s internal DEIB council
  •  Monitor key metrics related to DEIB (i.e., reporting, promotions, psychological safety) and manage the DEIB road map and its priorities accordingly

Performance and Development:

  •  Manage the strategy and approach for career paths, development, engagement, and retention across teams/roles
  •  Lead high-quality, standardized onboarding and offboarding processes, for both salaried and contract team members across the globe
  •  Ensure ideas42 has the tools in place to help team members develop skills to expand their knowledge via project work, collaborative opportunities, and organized trainings
  •  Manage the performance review and feedback processes

Culture and Engagement:

  •  Maintain an understanding of our culture, values, and operating principles, and help to codify and embed these in the day-to-day workings of the organization
  •  Promote behavioral practices that recognize and reward the value team members bring to the organization
  •  Organize key all-team activities (e.g., the annual retreat)

Traditional HR:

  •  Participate in anticipating, addressing, and resolving any employee relations challenges that may arise
  •  Ensure the policies and practices of the organization remain relevant, behaviorally informed, equitably enforced, and maximally free from hassles
  •  Ensure we have behaviorally informed total compensation processes and packages that meet the needs of our teams, align with our values, and stay within budget
  •  Oversee the selection and administration of all ideas42 benefits (health care, FMLA, 401(k), etc.)
  •  Oversee our people data, conducting regular analyses of key hypotheses and special requests; using this data to inform organizational planning decisions

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in people operations or related fields
  •  12 years of full-time relevant work experience
  •  4 years of experience managing direct reports
  •  Demonstrated expertise in global human resource processes
  •  Strong project management skills
  •  Ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  •  General awareness of and basic knowledge about the field of behavioral science, and expressed interest in learning more
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication with a commitment to high-quality output
  •  Mission-aligned, self-starter, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred qualifications

  •  Master’s degree or other practical certification such as SHRM certification(s)
  •  Experience with Greenhouse and Culture Amp
  •  Experience managing and working across functions in a matrix organization
  •  Experience managing multiple teams
