About the Opportunity

As the convening arm of the Clinton Foundation, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) brings together leaders from the public sector, private sector, and civil society to drive action and create partnerships to improve lives. To do this, CGI hosts both large-scale conferences (500-1,500+ attendees) and targeted events to spotlight and bring together the people, issues and solutions making a difference in communities around the world. Separating CGI from other conveners, year-round, CGI supports partners in our community to develop Commitments to Action – new, specific and measurable projects that help address a specific challenge.

Building on track record of pioneering and implementing innovative public health solutions, the Clinton Foundation is looking to bring on a Senior Manager, CGI Health Equity (maternity leave cover). This role is charged with developing and supporting a network of U.S. domestic and international organizations committed to creating healthier, safer and more equitable communities around the world.

The Senior Manager, CGI Health Equity (maternity leave cover) will support the development and maintenance of a portfolio of Commitments to Action to address a specific public health/challenge both in the US and globally. As CGI continues to expand its work in the health equity space, this position will steward  partnerships between and among a wide-range of organizations committed to advancing health equity, including the corporate and business community, philanthropic institutions, government agencies, and community-based organizations.

Successful candidates for this role will have a background in public health, will have a global perspective, a large professional network, and be excited to engage on challenges facing a diverse set of constituencies in the US and around the world. Candidates will have strong relationship management experience and an intuition for bringing different people together to forge partnerships.

This opportunity is project-based and therefore is slated to end three months after the start date.

Core Responsibilities

Drive the development and growth of a diverse community of organizations focused on advancing public health efforts and creating greater health equity , and support them in developing Commitments to Action :

  •  Steward a portfolio of Commitments to Action focused on specific health equity and public health challenges/solutions.
  •  Forge new partnerships across the CGI community to create new Commitments to Action and unlock new resources for the network.
  •  Proactively recruit organizations to join the CGI network and attend CGI events. Examples of target organizations include Fortune 500 companies, large philanthropic institutions, community-based organizations, and other organizations with a stake in promoting health equity and public health.
  •  Partner with the CGI Health Equity Director and broader CF colleagues to turn project and investment ideas into specific project plans, providing partner recommendations, sharing best practices, and driving network resources to yield tangible outcomes.
  •  Provide targeted support on a portfolio of Commitments to Action, including timely communication and support to commitment partners in the lead up to the CGI annual meeting

Develop programming to support the creation of Commitments to Action and to facilitate recruitment to the CGI network.

  •  Identify and advise on emerging trends in the public health and health equity spaces that could be applicable for commitments to action and/or programming for CGI convenings.
  •  Lead technical development and on-site execution of health equity programming at the September meeting
  •  Provide informed insight and perspective on programming and sessions for the CGI annual meeting , including speaker recommendations, session content, and detailed agenda
  •  On an as-needed basis, lead the development of public or private events/panel discussions to advance the development of Commitments to Action. Examples of programming could include:
    •  Developing private roundtable discussions on specific topics to drive issue awareness and  identify partnership opportunities;
    •  Creating public-facing panels and discussions at CGI or partner events to elevate issues and partners and create the platform for announcing new Commitments to Action.
  •  Attend conferences and other networking functions to recruit organizations to the CGI network .

Lead and maintain external relationships with key CGI partners and other stakeholders:

  •  Support high-level strategic partnerships with key network stakeholders, proactively engaging in CGI events, brokering partner connections, and providing additional support to their work on an as – needed basis.
  •  Work closely with colleagues across CGI tracks to support interdisciplinary programming and partnerships .

Minimum Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  •  Minimum Required: Bachelor’s Degree
  •  Preferred: Master’s Degree with a focus on public health or international development
  •  Work Experience (Minimum Needed): 10 + years of professional experience, with at least 7 + years of experience in public/global health, a record of developing partnerships , and a background in program management, with a preference for some international experience .
  •  Experience in public/global health equity
  •  Experience in developing cross-sector partnerships and stakeholder engagement
  •  Experience in fundraising and grant development, and knowledge of institutional, corporate, and individual giving sectors and trends
  •  Experience developing content and programming for conferences and convenings, including event coordination and support
  •  Knowledge of international development/social impact landscape, with insight into key players and trends.
  •  Very strong project management skills
  •  Very strong oral and written communication skills
  •  Demonstrated ability to acquire understanding and absorb new information rapidly
  •  Willingness to work in an “all hands-on deck” environment and engage in a variety of tasks
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required , database experience preferred.
  •  Team player that is committed to the greater good of the organization and the overall success of the department.
  •  Strong public speaker with an ability to lead large meetings and represent the Clinton Foundation in front of various stakeholders.
  • ​ ​ Ability to travel domestically and internationally, and work on multiple time zones, as necessary. ​

 

Compensation

The compensation range for this opportunity is $42-50/hour. This role is exempt for overtime pay and candidates must be able to commit to working 40 hours per week.
