Position Overview 

Managers work collaboratively across BSR on a range of consulting and grant-funded projects, member services, and collaborative initiatives. Managers ensure exceptional project execution and high-quality engagement with BSR member companies and other partners, including:

  •  Project Management and Implementation: Assume responsibility for implementing consulting and grant-funded projects to maximize impact. This includes overseeing project scope, timeline, deliverable quality and budget; managing clients and project teams; providing subject matter expertise; conducting primary research, including leading stakeholder interviews; utilizing tools; and presenting at and facilitating client meetings.
  •  Member and Client Management: Maintain day-to-day client relationships; oversee and cultivate member relationships; support member recruitment and business development.​
  •  Team Management: Lead project teams to effectively execute project objectives, outcomes, and impacts; establish the standards by which the project will be guided, including managing senior team members; and support team members’ learning and skills development.​

The Manager will be responsible for supporting BSR’s work with companies in the Consumer Sectors (CS) industry (Food, Beverage & Agriculture, Apparel, Retail, Beauty & Personal Care, Homewares, and Healthcare). BSR’s work with Consumer Sectors companies spans a variety of topics across BSR’s six focus areas (Climate change; equity, inclusion & justice; human rights; nature; supply chain sustainability; and sustainability management). They will have significant responsibility and autonomy in building client relationships and managing consulting projects from start to finish.

This position is full-time US based position.

Responsibilities

The Manager will assume responsibility for managing member relationships and projects, with emphasis on the US consumer sectors market. This will require:

  •  Managing several projects concurrently, with multiple project teams of BSR colleagues (typically 3-4 people per team).
  •  Shaping project scope, methodology, and approach.
  •  Maintaining day-to-day company relationships through consulting projects and membership engagements.
  •  Preparing for and leading workshops and other in-person and virtual engagements.
  •  Leading and guiding development of company-ready deliverables.
  •  Developing and managing to a clear project timeline and budget.
  •  Ensuring consistent delivery of best-in-class deliverables.
  •  Working with the Consumer Sectors team to grow existing relationships and build new opportunities. This includes contributing to BSR’s research, thought leadership, and external engagement.
  •  Mentoring and contributing to team development.

Compensation

At BSR we have implemented a transparent total compensation framework with an emphasis on internal equity. In order to maintain our equity, our hiring rate for this position is $102,058. Location adjustment will apply if successful candidates resides in New York ,San Francisco or Paris.

Qualifications  

  •  Experience successfully managing multiple, disparate projects simultaneously.
  •  5 years of relevant professional experience in a consumer-facing company, NGO, or consulting environment.
  •  Minimum of 2 years experience/expertise in at least one consumer sectors sub-industry (Food, Beverage & Agriculture, Apparel, Retail, Beauty & Personal Care, Homewares, or Healthcare); Experience with healthcare or agricultural sustainability issues is a plus.
  •  Proven track record of success working with business in a client/customer-facing position. Well-developed interpersonal skills for high-level interaction with members and other companies.
  •  Excellent presentation, facilitation and organizational skills.
  •  High ethical standards and commitment to BSR core values of leadership, respect, and integrity.
  •  High degree of fluency in English, with fluency in a second language a plus.
  •  Willingness to undertake up to 15% business travel.
