(BREAKING WIDE) — Trump FAILS ‘Cognitive Test’, Watch ‘Damning’ Reactions from the Internet. This is ‘the cognitive test Trump didn’t pass’: Internet reacts to president’s ‘shocking’ Axios interview.
President Trump and Axios political reporter Jonathan Swan had “one of the most shocking exchanges” during last week interview. In the interview — Trump claims the intelligence that Russia was funding Taliban targeting of U.S. troops in Afghanistan never reached his desk.
The exchange that gained steam nationwide on social media, where the President talks about how his administration has done an “incredible” job of navigating the pandemic and how the outbreak is “under control” despite surge in COVID-19 cases.
According to the latest figures published by Johns Hopkins University, 18,544,820 cases have been detected worldwide, with 700,741 deaths and 11,143,771 people recovered. In the US, there have been 4,771,519 confirmed cases and 156,830 deaths, with 1,528,979 people recovered from the virus.
Jonathan Swan asked Trump whether he was employing “wishful thinking” when it comes to a public health crisis that has left more than 155,000 in the U.S. dead.
Trump respond: “I think you have to have a positive outlook — otherwise you would have nothing,” Trump said, pointing again to the travel restrictions he says saved perhaps millions of lives. “Those people that really understand it, that really understand it, they said it’s incredible the job that we’ve done.”
Swan pressed on by asking how Trump could claim that the outbreak is “under control” when the average daily number of deaths is again more than 1,000. “They are dying — that’s true. And it is what it is,” Trump said. “But that doesn’t mean we aren’t doing everything we can. It’s under control, as much as you can control it,” he added.
Later, the topic shifted to the legacy of late civil-rights hero John Lewis, and Trump said: “I don’t know. I don’t know John Lewis. He chose not to come to my inauguration,” Trump said after being asked how he thought Lewis would be remembered. “I never met John Lewis, actually.”
And when given the chance to perhaps massage his earlier well-wishes for Ghislaine Maxwell, the former confidante of Jeffrey Epstein who has been charged with trafficking underage girls, Trump maintained his show of support and added a little spice.
“Her boyfriend died in jail, and people are still trying to figure out how did it happen, was it suicide, was he killed?” he said. “I do wish her well. I’m not looking for anything bad for her.”
Trump’s interview torched the internet and here are some damning reactions:

David Gardner wrote: It took 3.5 years but kudos to Axios for being the first TV news outlet to realize you can ask Trump what he means when he says batshit crazy things, instead of just reporting them in headlines.
John r Stanton wrote: The part of the axios interview where trump accuses South Korea of hiding deaths is so insane. Watching him realize he’s over his skis, and then deciding to go with it, in real time is nuts. LegalEagle wrote:Do yourself a favor this morning. Pour yourself a nice cup of tea, watch the Axios interview, then spit ALL of the tea out in horror.
