The wait is over: Joe Biden Picks his running mate

(BREAKING WIDE) — The wait is over: Joe Biden Picks his running mate.

After long waiting and suspense among presumptive VP candidates, Joe Biden has finally announced that Sen. Kamala Harris will be his running mate in the upcoming election.

Joe Biden writes: I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate. Back when Kamala was Attorney General, she worked closely with Beau. I watched as they took on the big banks, lifted up working people, and protected women and kids from abuse. I was proud then, and I’m proud now to have her as my partner in this campaign.

Other names that were reportedly being considered included: former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Rep. Val Demmings (D-Fla.), Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), who bowed out of the running in June, among others.

The former Vice President had repeatedly said he would choose a woman as his vice presidential candidate. Kamala Harris is the first African-American woman to be part of a major party’s presidential ticket.

Reacting to news, Kamala Harris issues this statement: Joe Biden can unify the American people because he’s spent his life fighting for us. And as president, he’ll build an America that lives up to our ideals. I’m honored to join him as our party’s nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-Chief.

Many reactions follows after Joe Biden’s pick: Moments ago, 2016 Democratic Party Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton issued statement on Joe Biden’s selection of Kamala Harris as his running mate.
