Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated, and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.

Context

UNV is seeking Online Volunteers to assist in crafting web stories that highlight the experiences of UN Volunteers and their significant contributions during their assignments. Online Volunteers will have access to background information and visuals, including photos, for each volunteer story. UNV will provide ongoing support, guidance, and advice throughout the assignment to ensure the success of the storytelling endeavor. All References to Kosovo shall be understood to be in the context of UN Security Council resolution 1244 (1999)

Task description

•  Draft well-written, engaging, and grammatically correct stories (short articles) on UN Volunteers engagement and experience for the UNV website, using storytelling techniques and multimedia elements. The Online Volunteers are expected to produce 6 web stories during engagement. The web stories should follow the UNVs web writing guidelines and using multimedia elements such as photos or infographics. The Online Volunteer will receive feedback and guidance from UNV colleagues on the content and quality of their outputs.

•  Candidate should have excellent writing skills, strong command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary. Demonstrated ability to create compelling narratives that capture the reader’s attention.
•  Willingness to adapt the writing style to align with UNV guidelines and requirements.
•  A genuine enthusiasm for storytelling and the ability to evoke emotions and create connections through written words.
