(BREAKING WIDE) – “Shut It Down” Protesters Demand PornHub Be Held Accountable for Profiting from Child Abuse and Sex Trafficking Videos.
Pornhub, the largest pornography hosting website that critics say profits off of and enables sex trafficking as well as child abuse, faces petition calling for its termination earlier.
Laila Mickelwait, director of abolition for the Sacramento-based nonprofit ExodusCry launch the petition Feburary which has received over 2 miillion signatures. The petition and corresponding website allege, with notable evidence, that the site has been enabling and profiting off of crimes like rape, abduction, sexual assault and sex trafficking
On Friday, Protesters gathered outside MindGeek’s headquarters demanding that pornHub be shut down, alleging that the website is profiting from videos involving child abuse and sex trafficking.
According to the Linknewspaper, the protest was organized by Christian anti-trafficking group ExodusCry as part of their TraffickingHub campaign, similar demonstrations also took place outside PornHub offices in Los Angeles and London.
“The movement is not about the larger legal porn industry,” said TraffickingHub founder Laila Mickelwait. “It is specifically and only about PornHub and its parent company MindGeek being complicit in serious sex crimes against women and children on a massive scale.”
