Real Estate Agents Ban The Term “Master Bedroom” Over Slavery Link, Replaces It With “Primary Bedroom”.
As Black Lives Matter protests continues accoss the country, The Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) announced last week that they are removing the word “master” from certain bedrooms and bathrooms over its link to slavery.
Real Estate Agents across the United Kingdom and some in the United States ban the term “Master Bedroom” over it’s “racist connotations” and replacing it with “Primary Bedroom”.
Earlier, “The MLS Advisory Group regularly reviews the terms and fields used in the MLS to make sure they are consistent with the current market environment. The updates to primary bedroom and primary bath were among nine requests for review that were submitted by members and considered at the most recent meetings, including an option to show whether the property has an electric vehicle charging station and what direction the balcony faces for high rise listings,” HARS wrote in a statement about the changes.
“These changes are being driven by political correctness and dramatic transformations in the buyer demographic across prime central London,” he said. “The typical buyers are now aged from their early twenties to their mid-forties and from all over the world. This young demographic tends to be very broad-minded and find any form of sexism or racism deeply offensive,” Wetherell added.
The term ‘Master’ will be replaced with ‘Primary’, so it will be called ‘Primary’ bedroom and ‘Primary’ bathroom instead of ‘Master’ bedroom and ‘Master’ bathroom.
