Introduction
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization and work of the Society of Jesus. It was founded in 1980 and is now found in some fifty countries around the world. Its mission is to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced persons.
JRS collaborates with other organizations and humanitarian agencies in order to’ accompany forcibly displaced persons, to provide them with quality services, to, and to make their situation publicly known in such a way that their rights and dignity are more respected. JRS is open to collaboration with Jesuits, religious and lay people of all religious and philosophical convictions. Since its creation, JRS has been able to fulfill its mission through the participation of volunteers and’employees committed to the service of refugees and displaced persons.. JRS has been present in Chad since 2006.
General objective of the position
Under the supervision of the National Director, ensure a good definition, planning, implementation and monitoring of all logistics operations on the mission as well as securing the staff and assets of the’organisation in order to enable the provision of quality services, effectively and efficiently, to JRS-supported individuals in Chad.
Main responsibilities of the position:
1. Management of vehicles/wheeled vehicles and movements
• he is responsible for the proper maintenance of vehicles and equipment and the management of their movements in the’ intervention area (planning and monitoring of movements) ;
• he sets up a maintenance schedule and controls compliance with the’ maintenance and management procedures of the car fleet and generators ;
• it supports the programme teams in identifying the requirements for rolling stock and other related costs in the context of the’ writing of project proposals or revisions ;
• He/She keeps track of consumption, consumption reports and the calculation of the costs of the motorbike fleet.
2. Inventory, assets and infrastructure management
• He/She supervises and watches over the movements of the stocks according to the policies of JRS ;
• He/She supervises the reception of deliveries and cargoes by road and/or by air ;
• he/She keeps track of stocks, limits losses at’ warehousing and ensures the’ use of tools /formats for reporting ;
• He/She S’s ensures that warehouses/shops are equipped with rules of’s use and that’elles are respected by users
• He / She is responsible for the correct management including the maintenance and inventory of the assets ( computers, printers, equipment NTC … ) and infrastructure ( offices, guest houses … ) JRS in Chad
3. Purchasing management and supply chain
• He/It ensures that purchases and supply of goods and services are made according to the project purchase plan and within the time necessary for the proper implementation of activities and the proper functioning from the various offices and sub-offices, in accordance with JRS and lessor procedures.
• He / She centralizes the major purchases of the bases and ensures their routing to the field in close collaboration with the logisticians of the bases. It collects and updates the list of all approved suppliers according to the usual needs of the organization.
4. Management of logistics personnel
• he manages, supervises and trains the logistics staff (drivers, guards, logisticians, household and maintenance agents) of the mission ;
• He/She participates, in coordination with key interlocutors, in the dimensioning of HR logistics and security of the mission.
5. Reporting and archiving
• He/She prepares the monthly logistic reports and all the reports and instruments requested by the’organisation.
6. Security
• He/She, with the support of the project directors, of his hierarchy and of the regional office, contributes to the implementation and compliance by the teams of the security management plan of JRS Chad.
Profile sought
Training and experiences :
• 3 Years of’experience in the management of logistics and security on humanitarian projects ;
• Diploma in graduate studies in logistics, vocational training or experience in electrical or mechanical automotive would be an additional asset ;
• Safety training including HEAT, advanced management of NGO security essential

Languages :
• (read, written and spoken) and good level in English (read, written and spoken).
• Knowledge of the’Arab,’a local language and/or the’Spanish would be an asset.
