(BREAKING WIDE) — Manila Bishop Requests Prayers after Testing Positive for the Coronavirus.
Earlier, Brazilian Bishop, Henrique Soares da Costa believes coronavirus is “a sign from God” and proof that “science is always precarious”, then dies of it.
According to the Philippines Department of Health (DOH), they’re over 2,241 new COVID-19 infections Sunday, raising the overall tally to 67,456. Manila Bishop, Broderick Pabillo has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
“It is in this spirit that I announce that I tested positive for COVID-19 with RT-PCR (Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test,” Pabillo wrote in a statement to the clergy of Manila Thursday. The bishop also said “I know this virus will pass, so please do not worry about me, although prayers would be very much appreciated.”
Due to situation of things, Pabillo said one of the priests in the Archdiocese of Manila will celebrate their Sunday Mass at 10 a.m. at Manila Cathedral. The priest will read the homilies prepared for the Mass, he said.
In a separate statement, the Archdiocese of Manila said Pabillo, Apostolic Administrator of Manila, has no symptoms but is undertaking quarantine.
