(BREAKING WIDE) – Man sneaks into stadium’s luxury suite, slept and helped himself to concession stand food meant for pro soccer team for nearly two weeks.
Daniel Albert Neja, 39, a Florida man was arrested on Sunday after he was caught using a luxury suite at Al Lang Stadium for nearly two weeks.
A cleaning crew reportedly realized something was amiss when they discovered razors, blankets and shaving cream containers in the suite. A subsequent surveillance video review revealed Neja entering the food and merchandise stores of the stadium, which is primarily used by the Tampa Bay Rowdies, a professional soccer team. Footage reportedly showed that Neja had been in the facility since July 26. Police suspect he sneaked into the stadium by blending in with a cleaning crew.
The cleaning and maintenance of the stadium had been limited due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, so Neja was likely able to stay in the stadium for nearly two weeks before he was discovered. According to the arrest report, Neja had reportedly taken $1,043 worth of clothing and consumed $250 in drinks.
Neja was charged with resisting an officer without violence and burglary of an unoccupied structure, and is currently being held on a $5,150 bond.
