New White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows revealed that he will be self-quarantined for 14 days following possible contact with a coronavirus patient. Mark’s Communications Director, Ben Williamson, made the announcement by tweeting:

Confirming: Mark Meadows was advised this weekend that now 12 days prior at CPAC, he may have come in contact with the COVID-19 positive test individual. A precautionary test came back negative & he feels great. He’ll be self-quarantined till the 14 day period passes Wednesday.

According to Fox News, Mark Meadows an incoming chief of staff of President Donald Trump’s White House, may have come into contact with an attendant of the Conservative Political Action Conference who was diagnosed with coronavirus and will self-quarantine over the next two weeks “out of abundance of caution.”

His office said the North Carolina Republican tested negative for COVID-19 and has zero symptoms. He joins fellow Republican lawmakers—including Reps. Doug Collins of Georgia and Matt Gaetz of Florida—who said they were in contact with the individual at CPAC. None are experiencing any symptoms.

Last week, when he heard the news, Gaetz was spotted flying on Air Force One. White House officials said he sat alone in a portion of the president’s plane when Gaetz discovered he was in proximity to the man with coronavirus at CPAC.

He told the Washington Post that President Trump would “coax” him to the front of the plane by the end of the flight. Gaetz told the paper that Trump did not appear to be “hyper-cautious about being in the same room in which I was.”
