IFC’s Human Resources (HR) Department provides strategic partnership to the business to develop and implement workforce strategies and meet organizational goals, including attracting, developing, and deploying diverse and skilled talent.

  •  Client Services – offers strategic HR partnership, program implementation, support, and solutions to staff and management globally.
  •  Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – supports the organization to build a diverse workforce, embrace equity, and foster an inclusive workplace.
  •  Employment Framework and Recruitment – develops and supports HR strategy, policies/procedures, communications, and knowledge management; drives HR initiatives, such as staff engagement and Board reporting; and delivers recruitment solutions.
  •  Talent and Incentives – designs best practice HR solutions in onboarding, mentoring, career management and mobility, performance/talent management, incentives and awards, and leadership development.

IFC HR is seeking a HR Officer for the Executive Resources function, which supports IFC’s senior management in the selection, development and deployment of VPs, Directors, and Managers, facilitates the performance and talent management, including regular managerial rotations regarding IFC’s managerial cadre. The Executive Resources team also provides ongoing client service support to the IFC MD and the IFC MD Front Office.

The HR Officer position will be located in Washington, DC and will report to the Manager, HR Client Services. The HR Officer will support the rollout and strategic implementation of manager cadre recruitment, providing end-to-end hiring solutions aligned with the recruitment model, support the executive talent initiatives, manager rotations and performance management initiatives for the client group allocated.

Duties and Accountabilities:

  •  Ensure the recruiting and selection process for the assigned management cadre is running efficiently and effectively, including timely hiring, streamlined application processing, efficient screening and moving candidates through the recruitment process in a timely manner.
  •  Proactively establish a robust executive talent pipeline of candidates that aligns with current and future needs of the organization. Conduct internal/external talent mapping, pipelining, and succession planning in strategic partnership with HR business partners and Senior Management.
  •  Build and maintain proactive partnerships with all internal and external client groups to understand business needs, staffing requirements and challenges, and provide innovative and effective sourcing solutions.
  •  Provide exceptional candidate and client experiences throughout the entire executive recruitment life cycle from the initial phone call to closing the offer.
  •  Coordinate relationships with recruitment search firms, validating identified candidates, and managing requests from internal clients.
  •  Introduce innovative solutions and best practices in the executive recruitment space to achieve an efficient and effective recruitment process and improve quality of hire, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within recruiting strategies
  •  Support the execution of the annual IFC Director and Managerial Rotation program.
  •  Assist IFC Management and HR Business Partners with aspects of managerial selections, rotations, and development
  •  Support the talent management programs for the managerial cadre.
  •  Partner with other HR Functions to identify and manage internal key executive talent fostering increased internal mobility for IFC Executives. Act as an expert within the Executive Resourcing Function, staying updated on market trends to continuously refine recruitment approach to changing market conditions. Work closely with IFC’s Talent Acquisition leaders and provide recruiting insight, best practices and knowledge to team, leadership, and other stakeholders.
  •  Contribute to special projects as a member of the Executive Resources team driving innovation and continuous improvement in our processes.

Selection Criteria

  •  Master’s degree with at least 5 years in international recruitment with a proven track record in executive sourcing.
  •  Proven expertise in talent search and headhunting for challenging-to-fill positions, preferably within the international development sector. Familiarity with talent pools and labor trends in emerging markets
  •  Experience in building talent pipelines, talent acquisition and talent management, is desired.
  •  Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, and a high degree of tact and discretion in dealing with internal and external stakeholders, and in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  •  Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills to establish successful relationships with candidates and sources, as well as with internal clients
  •  Ability to confidently interact with senior management building trusting working relationships and partnerships at all levels of the organization.
  •  Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and attend to details while staying focused on key priorities.
  •  Strong planning, coordination, and project management skills with superior ability to design and implement projects and initiatives from end-to-end
  •  Ability to negotiate with candidates successfully
  •  Pro-active and agile approach to work and willingness to learn
  •  Track record of high level of integrity, tact and discretion when managing sensitive and confidential information
  •  Result-driven with a positive attitude and a high degree of initiative and responsiveness
