Job Purpose
As a Governance Events Manager you will lead the logistical, operational and conference management functions of the legal and Governance Programme. The purpose of the role is to organise the annual Global Assembly meeting.
You will support the work of several governing bodies, committees and advises other International Secretariat teams on best practice events management. You will have a fantastic opportunity to provide leadership and line management to one full time events Assistant and temporary staff members/volunteers when required.
About you
We are searching for a candidate who has had experience managing the provision of organisation, logistical, administrative and conference support to the legal and Governance Programme.
The successful candidate will have experience servicing governing bodies, organising work and managing staff which includes recruiting and training employees.
Main Responsibilities
- Project manage the Global Assembly Meeting from initial scoping through to delivery and beyond – including all organizational, logistical, administrative and conference support arrangements, recommending improvements as appropriate throughout the event life-cycle.
- Managing and supporting the events assistant role, encouraging continuous personal and professional development.
- Recruit and manage at least one fixed-term events logistics assistant, and up to 30 local volunteers, to support at key times during the annual event calendar.
- Continually work to achieve best value for money with suppliers, ensuring a robust procurement / tender process, overseeing appropriate negotiations for all work undertaken and ensuring a clear business case to justify larger expenses.
Skills and Experience
- Experience of sourcing, planning, organizing, delivering and evaluating complex international events for 350+ participants, with experience in multi-lingual events an advantage.
- Experience of setting, tracking, reforecasting and reconciling significant budgets.
- Experience of working with events technology and web-based communication tools.
- Experience of coordinating complex project teams.
