Treasury Market Operations (CTM) serves as IFC Treasury’s market counterparty-facing front office. CTM is responsible for funding operations and the management of IFC’s cash and liquid assets.

The Funding Unit (CTMFU) is responsible for ensuring IFC has the funds it needs for private sector lending in developing countries, and sufficient liquidity to fulfill IFC’s counter-cyclical role and safeguard its triple-A credit ratings. The Investor Relations team is also part of CTMFU and is accountable for creating and presenting a consistently applied investment message to IFC’s bond investors.

Role & Responsibilities:

IFC is conducting a search for an individual to join CTMFU in the capacity of Investor Relations Extended Term Consultant starting immediately. The ETC will support the investor relations function with cross collaboration across related departments. The position would be based in Washington DC. His/her primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  •  Support the execution of IFC’s investor relations strategy reporting to the Head of Investor Relations
  •  Assist with the coordination with internal stakeholders to develop key investor messaging, a successful communications framework and presentation materials
  •  Contribute to building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, international investment banks, and capital market firms
  •  Support the marketing of IFC’s bond program through the preparation and design of web and print materials including presentations, newsletters etc.
  •  Assist with the distribution of rating agency material and other relevant investor material
  •  Undertake analysis of funding and investor activities, as well as IFC’s debt and equity portfolio etc. to identify trends
  •  Manage investor relations inbox, responding to requests for data and bond related information
  •  Contribute data and input to the creation of reports relating to IFC’s socially responsible bond programs such as the Green Bond and Social Bond programs
  •  Support the management of relationships with investors, owning the upkeep of the CRM database
  •  Monitor and gather information on market events, shareholder issues, and anything else that could impact the business
  •  Assist with the maintenance of the investor relations website, ensuring copy and content is regularly updated
  •  Assist with the organization of conferences, road shows, due diligence calls, and investor meetings including drafting speaking notes and briefs
  •  Use online and internal social media communications tools engage with key audiences, build support for funding program and the team’s role in the World Bank Group
  •  Work with communications teams on press releases, articles, interviews
  •  Partake in ad hoc initiatives to support the Head of Investor Relations, Funding and leadership team as required.

Selection Criteria

  •  Master’s degree (in Finance, Communications, Investor Relations or related field) + 2 years’ experience or Bachelor’s degree + 4 years’ experience in investor relations, financial markets, preferably in fixed income, within an investment bank, rating agency, multilateral development bank or other capital-markets related institution, including the World Bank Group;
  •  Prior knowledge of debt capital markets, and enthusiasm for capital market innovation;
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sound business judgment;
  •  Data analysis and project management skills and knowledge of information platforms including Bloomberg and Reuters;
  •  Advanced knowledge of Excel and Web editing skills;
  •  Proficient use of Microsoft PowerPoint in creating professional presentations;
  •  Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines;
  •  Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to synthesize and deliver complex issues;
  •  Highly motivated, results-oriented self-starter with proven capacity for teamwork;
  •  Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks and expand the scope of work and responsibilities,
  •  Willingness to travel;
  •  Fluency in English is essential. Fluency in another language would be advantageous.
