Scope of Work

To aims to provide knowledge briefing to the English language-speaking public and develop content and messaging on the Syria Civil Defence platforms. Also, the position aims to provide storylines about the Syria Civil Defence establishment and progress in line with the Media Department and the Advocacy department

Responsibilities

  • The English language content developer will provide updates on the SCD work and global image including press coverage, surveys and studies published etc.
  • Work with the rest of the departments on the strategy within the operational objectives according to the procedural determinants that require his/her direct specialization.
  • Assist the advocacy department coordinator to serve the advocacy strategy in conveying the work, achievements, and image of the institution and its activities.
  • Create content on the Syrian Civil Defence platforms and social media profiles according to the latest new media techniques.
  • Strengthen relations with clients and the public, outside Syria, in coordination with his/her line manager.
  • Participate in developing media plans directed to the Western audience taking into account differences in the audience culture.
  • Review and professional presentation of the organization’s discourse across all organization platforms in a way that accurately expresses its messages.
  • Work with the English language editor to develop text content and review it before publishing.
  • Document cooperation ties with the parties engaged in the SCD affairs in a way that builds and establishes closer ties and partnerships and submit reports to his/her line manager.
  • Follows up on international public opinion trends regarding the institution’s image, positions, role, and activities in general, and the projects and services provided.
  • Managing and co-developing the content of the SCD English website with the English editor.
  • Managing the SCD LinkedIn platform and developing content that reflects the institution in an appropriate manner in line with the publishing policy and the role of the institution.
  • Participates with the media team in the weekly and monthly activity proposals, in addition to implementing these plans according to his/her job role.
  • Writing summaries and newsletters submitted on behalf of the Communication and Media Department related to emergency events or direct assignments from the Communication and Media Department or the Advocacy Department.
  • Assisting in the production of texts used in the visual materials provided by the Communication and Media Department through its profiles.
  • Assists the Communication and Media manager in building a professional communication strategy and more direct relationships to serve the Communication and Media Department and the institution in general.
  • With the help of the Communication and Media Department and the Advocacy Department, builds and develops a strategy to counter the misinformation attacks targeting the institution.
  • Performs other tasks in line with the role.

Note: the above-mentioned responsibilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department’s organizational chart or title.

Qualification (Education/Work Experience)

  1. Essential:
    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Native Arabic, Fluent level in English writing and speaking.
  2. Desirable:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in international relations, Political Science, New Media or related fields.
    • 4 Years’ experience in related filed.
    • Experience in new media.
