After finding 44 thumb drives containing ballots that were not included in the final results, she is now seeking a court to allow her to perform a manual recount of the votes.

Which districts are involved, how many votes are at stake, or whether the clear winners of any election will change.

It is also unclear whether the 44 thumb drives represent 44 individual voting centers or joint centers where votes in both primaries have been cast.

Still, on Super Tuesday, officials told WFAA, the drives represent nearly a tenth of the total voting centers open on.

“Of the 44 thumb drives, 16 were not provided in a timely manner by the Elections Department and 28 were not scheduled to be used from voting machines but were used by volunteer election officials,” Pippins-Poole said in a statement explaining the blunder on Saturday evening.

“We have to review this fully, instantly. It is definitely time for Toni Pippins-Poole to step down as administrator of elections,” Dallas County Commissioner J.J. Koch told WFAA.

“I deeply regret this being happening right now in Dallas County. There are already enough questions regarding our ability to serve the Dallas County people. This is very detrimental to our local democracy.

According to county officials, Pippins-Poole lodged the complaint and affidavit in court by late Friday.

In the affidavit that followed the petition of the trial, Pippins-Poole said that she only made the discovery when reconciling the accounts, and found that she did not have enough ballots for everyone who wished to vote.
