Organizational framework
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations ( FAO ) is leading international action to end hunger, achieve food security for all and ensure that everyone always has access to quality food in sufficient quantity, so that they can lead an active and healthy life. FAO has more than 195 Members and operates in more than 130 countries worldwide. We all have a role to play in ending hunger. The Human Resources Internship Program is aimed at talented young people, women and men, who are eager to share their new perspectives, their innovative ideas and the academic experiences they have had in areas of interest to FAO.It offers participants the opportunity to learn and supplement their theoretical knowledge with practical experience in a field of FAO activities.
Thanks to their experience within FAO, trainees will contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the FAO Strategic Framework, which aims to support the achievement of the 2030 Program by transforming agrifood systems to make them more efficient, more inclusive, more resilient and more sustainable in order to improve production, nutrition, the environment and living conditions, without leaving anyone aside.
Hierarchical position
The trainee is placed ( e ) under the direction of the hierarchical superior designated to him.
Area of specialization
The trainee will be assigned ( e ) to different areas of work, depending on their profile and the needs of the Organization.
Tasks and responsibilities
The trainee will perform the tasks set out in the description of responsibilities which has been established by the assignment office.
THE CANDIDATURES WILL BE CONSIDERED WITH REGARD TO THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Minimum conditions to be fulfilled
- Have completed a first university cycle and recently graduated ( e ) or continue studying in a recognized establishment at the time of filing the application. Please note that FAO only takes into account certificates and diplomas issued by a recognized establishment listed in the World Higher Education Database ( WHED ), a list updated by the International Association of Universities ( AIU ) / United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO ). - Specialized ( e ) in an activity sector related to FAO mission and activities.
- Commonly use one of the FAO ( English, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, French or Russian ) languages. Knowledge of a second FAO language will be considered an asset.
- Have the nationality of one of the Members of FAO.
- Be at least 21 and at most 30 years old.
- Be able to adapt to a multicultural international environment and have good communication skills.

Technical / functional skills
Relevant university studies in one of the Organization’s fields of activity.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- FAO does not collect fees at any stage of recruitment ( application, interview, file processing ).

- Applicants who have already completed an internship at FAO cannot be admitted to another internship.
- The selected candidates must be in good standing – with regard to residence or the right of residence – in the proposed place of employment, before joining the Organization.
- Applicants whose first degree parent ( mother, father, brother or sister ) is employed by FAO, regardless of the type of contract which binds him to the Organization, cannot be admitted to the Internship Program.
- FAO pays monthly remuneration to trainees if they are not sponsored by their university or other entities.
