Plan International Belgium has been working for over 40 years to create a fair and safe world for all children. Every child has the right to education and must have the opportunity to flourish. This demand for fairness begins with equal opportunities between girls and boys. Girls are still too often disadvantaged and discriminated against, and sometimes even threatened and mistreated.
Plan International Belgium is part of an ambitious international federation and runs projects in nearly 80 countries worldwide (including Belgium). Our actions generate impact by influencing policies, raising awareness and implementing projects with and for children and young people.
Plan International Belgium is looking for qualified consultants to conduct an in-depth analysis of the situation of the rights of vulnerable girls, adolescents and young women in Belgium.
Using an intersectional feminist perspective, the situation analysis seeks to identify potential gaps in the realization of these girls’ rights, to better understand who they are, the challenges they face and what opportunities are available to them, while taking into account the regional diversity of the country.
For this situation analysis, we have chosen to focus on vulnerable girls, adolescents and young women aged 10 to 24 in Belgium, taking into account four categories: those living in poverty, those of colour, those with disabilities, and young LGBTQIA+ women. The analysis will cover four impact areas: protection from violence, inclusive quality education, youth economic empowerment and youth leadership, with two cross-cutting themes: sexual and reproductive health and rights, and digitalisation.
This study, mainly qualitative, includes an in-depth documentary review and primary data collection through key informant interviews (KIIs), particularly with members of organizations defending the rights of girls and women.
