INTRODUCTION
The 5-year Tudituale project in the DRC will increase the resilience of communities in the Kasai Central Province of DRC. Farm Radio International (RRI) is a member of the project consortium and leads communication work for social and behavioural change using interactive radio and other methods.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Carry out the responsibilities of’innovation digital (DI) for all impact projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo (80%)
- Provide services of’systems administration and’computer infrastructure in the office (20%)
Responsibilities
Executing IN responsibilities for the Tudituale project in DRC
Under the supervision of the Tudituale Project Coordinator and the people in charge of’team des innovations digitales (IN), ensure that agreed digital innovation services are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards in RRI impact projects.
Planning and service delivery
- Collaborate with IN teams, other specialized teams, and the project implementation team to ensure that all interactive components of Tudituale project are planned, implemented, and delivered, monitored and evaluated.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate IN services to the Tudituale project using agreed tools and processes, for example the Uliza survey, Uliza Info, Uliza Log and Uliza Reminder.
- Install and configure IN platforms to be used in the project
- Facilitate the recording and writing of content on interactive platforms IN.
- Report the’interactivity status to those responsible for the’team of digital innovations (IN)
Support for radio stations and capacity building
- Monitor the use of IN services by partner radio stations that use the IN tools
- Help and train broadcasters on how to administer IN tools and platforms
- Provide remote support to the stations involved in the project
- Write ICT assessments and station training reports
IN delivery budgets and billing
- Monitor the use of the system as part of the project
- Work with project teams and the IN manager on the budget allocation for the implementation of Uliza
Provide support in systems administration and IT infrastructure to the RRI team in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Under the supervision of the Tudituale Project Coordinator and the leaders of’ team of digital innovations (IN), ensure and manage the technological infrastructure of the RRI team in the DRC, including planning, the implementation and management of the software applications and hardware infrastructure that support the operations.
Equipment & software
- Install and configure devices, including scanners, external drives, monitors, and other peripheral hardware
- Provide troubleshooting and support for software and systems
- Ensure that all software on the RRI equipment is licensed and maintain a license record
Networks & security
- Monitor the network to ensure the functionality and availability of the network for all system users
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair wired, wireless and other network infrastructure
- In case of a viral infection, clean the equipment concerned
Routine users and administrative tasks
- Make sure the computer is set up before the new hire start date and any associated moves
- Manage the move of computer equipment as a result of changes in office or staff
- Train new and current employees on computer software and ICT systems
- Work directly with suppliers to plan repairs and maintenance
- Assist the finance and administration manager in creating and maintaining an inventory, which may include hardware, software, and various items
Qualifications
- Diploma or diploma in information technology or a related field or equivalent work experience in a relevant field
- At least one year of experience in managing complex development communication or ICT for development initiatives
Skills
- Good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Efficient written and oral communication with the ability to produce reports and present solutions
- Knowledge and experience in program development and implementation, including project cycles and results-based management
- Ability to work independently to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, identify and isolate technical problems
- Ability to work and cooperate well with people
- Knowledge in audio editing and mastering
- Experience in networking and computer maintenance
- Willingness to travel regularly within the country
