We are currently looking for an Assessment Officer for IMPACT/REACH’s Localisation Team. The Localisation Team Assessment Officer is responsible for assessment preparation and planning, research cycle management and coordination of data collection activities, output production and assessment follow-up. In particular, this will include serving as the lead researcher on a qualitative assessment on partnerships between international and Ukrainian humanitarian/emergency response actors, responsible for preparation, research design, implementation, analysis, and reporting for this assessment, though other assessment work may also be included.
REACH Initiative is a unique humanitarian NGO, which provides research, data, and analysis to support more effective humanitarian intervention in crisis contexts. By providing precise and rigorous information on the humanitarian situation of crisis-affected populations in Ukraine, REACH informs better aid delivery and more transparent and reliable decision making. In Ukraine, REACH is hosted by our sister organisation, ACTED.
REACH is seeking an experienced candidate to implement assessments on behalf of the Localisation Team, which focuses on using data to improve international actors’ understanding of, integration with, and support for local/Ukrainian actors. The ideal candidate should have significant experience with data collection and/or report-writing, with a particular emphasis on qualitative methodologies; a good understanding of the international humanitarian system and its processes and stakeholders; and an ability to sensitively manage complex relationships with a wide variety of local and international actors within the emergency response in Ukraine. Familiarity with social network analysis is an added value, but not required.
The GIS Officer will conduct assessments for the Localisation Team, spanning the full cycle of preparation, research design, data collection implementation, analysis, reporting, and dissemination. In particular, this will include an assessment focused on partnerships between international and Ukrainian NGOs/civil society organizations. The Assessment Officer may also support on other Localisation Team research cycles and tasks.
REQUIREMENTS
Academic University-level education in social sciences, political sciences, research or relevant field;
Years of work experience At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in data collection and/or report writing and or drafting of analytical products;
Technical skills Understanding of and familiarity with qualitative data collection, management, and analysis is required (familiarity with quantitative data collection and social network analysis is an asset);
Software skills Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Power Point skills; prior professional experience with Adobe products (InDesign in particular) preferred
Familiarity with relevant systems Familiarity with the humanitarian aid system is required; ideally, at least 1 year of experience in working with either Ukrainian or international NGOs in the humanitarian/development context;
Cross-cultural work environmentAbility to operate in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility;
Language skills Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian; working proficiency in English (at least Intermediate level B1)
