AOC Suffers Humiliating Retreat As an Effort to Dethrone Pelosi Fails.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not pleased with the side of the government if the Dem party and since her first day on the job has been gunning to take them down.
Ocasio-Cortez provoked Pelosi in some key districts by supporting primary challengers. The feud has gone public several times and AOC will surely face a backlash after having suffered a big loss in Texas for her candidate.
She also endorsed Bernie who came up last night with a big loser– Bernie may still pull it out, but it doesn’t matter, Biden and Bernie have too much baggage and are not competent enough to take on President Trump.
Following report from Free Beacon, In a race seen as a bellwether for the future of the Democratic Party, eight-term incumbent Rep. Henry Cuellar (D., Tex.) beat Jessica Cisneros amid an out- of-state cash inflow and high-profile support for the progressive challenger.
Early Wednesday morning, Cuellar’s team claimed victory, holding off Cisneros by a 52-48 margin. For Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) who endorsed Cisneros in January, the result adds to an already challenging night in Texas. In the primary of the Lone Star state the Vermont Democratic Socialist was upset by former vice president Joe Biden.
The loss of Cisneros also comes as a disappointment to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) and the far-left “squad” of legislators who have rallied around her.
The 26-year-old immigration lawyer has been handpicked by Justice Democrats, the progressive group that backed Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) in 2018, to challenge Cuellar. The party portrayed Cuellar as “the favorite Democrat of Trump,” comparing his pro-life stance and “A” NRA ranking with the liberal positions of Cisneros, emphasizing the support of the challenger for Medicare for All, the Green New Deal and a $15 minimum wage.
The race attracted intense nationwide attention. Cisneros landed approvals from a who is who of progressive legislators and advocacy groups. Ocasio-Cortez, Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D., Mass.), and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D., Wash.) all backed Cisneros, as did the environmentalist giants EMILY, NARAL Pro-Choice, and Planned Pa Sierra Club and abortion industry giants EMILY’s List, NARAL Pro-Choice, and Planned Parenthood Action Fund.
The Committee for the Democratic Congressional Campaign and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) endorsed Cuellar, with Pelosi in a February campaign event calling for a “resounding victory” for the incumbent Democrat.
Looks as though Cisneros came up short by just under 3,000 votes, a 3.6% margin. While a disappointment for progressives who invested a lot in this race, that is undoubtedly much closer than what a lot folks in TX—including Cuellar—expected. #tx28 https://t.co/73Ulok8Yc2 pic.twitter.com/2z1P65cW3f
