A Federal Judge’s verdict on vaccine mandate in Washington goes viral. The decision of a federal judge in Washington on the vaccination requirement has gone viral.

On Monday, a federal judge in Eastern Washington refused a request by firemen, state troopers, and others to block Washington’s COVID-19 vaccination mandate for state employees and emergency responders. Gov. Jay Inslee, Spokane Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer, Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste, and others are being sued by a group of workers.

The workers claim that the necessity to get vaccinated in order to keep their employment infringes on their civil rights. According to KXLY, the plaintiffs filed an application for a temporary restraining order, which was refused by U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Rice.

“The Supreme Court has historically recognized state and local government authority to enforce mandatory immunizations,” Rice said in his decision. Federal courts have traditionally assessed such matters on a reasonable basis, and cases like this one that challenge vaccination requirements based on free expression of religion have been repeatedly rejected.”

According to Rice, the plaintiffs also claimed contract revisions as a grounds for the court to intervene. However, the judge stated that they had not supplied copies of the disputed collective bargaining agreements. Inslee’s vaccine-requirement declaration, he added, is “well-supported by considerable medical data, professional organization recommendations, and coincides with other measures currently in place in other governmental contexts.”

Thousands of workers in Washington had until Oct. 18 to verify they’d been completely vaccinated as a condition of their ongoing employment. The great majority of people agreed. More than 1,800 Washington state employees were fired, quit, or retired last week as a result of the state’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, according to officials. According to figures given by the governor’s Office of Financial Management, around 3% of the state’s approximately 63,000-person workforce was affected by the requirement.
