Financing Officer (M/F) – DRC At Doctors of the World

Médecins du Monde, a medical association campaigning for international solidarity, has been committed for over 40 years to treating the most vulnerable populations here and there, to bearing witness to the obstacles observed in access to care and to obtaining lasting improvements in health policies for all.

An independent association, Médecins du Monde acts beyond care by denouncing attacks on dignity and human rights and by fighting to improve the situation of vulnerable populations.

In France and internationally in nearly 30 countries, our actions aim to facilitate access to the healthcare system through our 6 priority fights:

· Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)

· Migration exile rights and health

· Risk reduction

· Environmental health

· Health systems

· Humanitarian spaces

MdM is recognized among the most important medical organizations in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Present since 1994, MdM has historically intervened in various regions of the country: Kinshasa, North and South Kivu, Tanganyika, notably on emergency programs through responses to epidemics and vaccination campaigns, the complete implementation of the minimum package of activities (PMA) in primary health care (PHC) and support for health centers (HC) affected by various crises.

The organization has a coordination office in Kinshasa and since May 2019, MdM has once again been present in the Province of Tanganyika, with a base in Kalémie and a sub-base in Nyunzu.

Today, we are therefore intervening through several emergency and development programs:

Humanitarian Space Program, emergencies and crises

MdM has been implementing an emergency nutritional project in the Nyemba and Kalémie Health Zones (ZS) since 2019, supported by DG ECHO, and one in the Nyunzu ZS since 2021, funded by the French Embassy. Several project proposals have been submitted in 2024 to raise funds to meet the needs of vulnerable people in Tanganyika.

Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Program

We have also been present in Kinshasa for over 10 years with a Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) program, in partnership with the national NGO Afia Mama. This program aims to improve the SRH of residents of two health zones, particularly young people and adolescents. It provides accessible and quality care and includes comprehensive abortion care, distribution of contraceptives, prevention consultations and treatment of STIs/STDs, etc.

Health Environment Program

Finally, since July 2022, MdM has launched a new Environmental Health (ES) project in Kinshasa, aimed at reducing the impact of harmful cultivation practices (in particular the unreasonable use of pesticides) on the health of market gardeners.

The context of the mission for 2024-2025 is to renew funding for Médecins du Monde in the province of Tanganyika, but also to consolidate funding for the two projects in Kinshasa.
